Things I like & Do
A collection of things I enjoy
A while back, a new client told me that she found it a bit difficult to learn much about me as a person from my website, but that a podcast episode that I recommended to her after our first session told her everything she needed to know about my personality (she wasn’t entirely serious).
That’s how this list started. It was first published in November 2025.
Dogs and cats
The way the light glows in Southern France and Greece and Southern California
Mangoes and papayas
The color pink, though I wear almost only black; I’m trying to change that
Books: Here’s my Goodreads. I adore Samantha Irby, Jill Heinerth, Lindy West, Charles Yu, Dean Spade
TV Shows: Resident Alien; Somebody, Somewhere; New Girl; Mrs Davis; Schitt’s Creek
I love to bake, both savory and sweet. This is my favorite pizza recipe, and this is my favorite banana bread which is a big hit wherever I bring it.
I just took a pattern drafting class to improve my sewing. My current sewing project is a tailored, slightly oversized shirt.
I have 3 weaving projects, 4 knitting projects, and 7 paintings I’m (technically) working on in parallel
Another podcast: What Went Wrong, about how movies got (barely) made, and all that went wrong along the way. I don’t watch a lot of movies (just happened that way), but listened to the entire podcast back catalogue after I discovered it.
I speak German and English at native level, plus some basic French, Spanish, and Italian
Fun facts (I can never think of these on the spot):
I used to be a car journalist. I know nothing about cars but like to drive them; an editor hired me for my writing style and a passionate farewell blog post that I wrote to my first car when it was sent to the scrapyard by its last owner. For 16 years, I haven’t owned a car anymore.
I have three bikes: A Dutch, gravel, and racing bike.
To be continued (maybe).
